There are many things that can affect your ability to get and keep an erection. Women and men of all ages can have trouble getting and keeping an erection for different reasons.

Some mental health problems, like performance anxiety, stress, or relationship problems, can make it hard for younger men to get or keep an erection. A younger man's ED can also be caused by things in his lifestyle, like drinking too much booze, smoking, using drugs, and not eating well or exercising enough.

Male aging causes changes in their bodies that make it more likely for them to have ED. These changes include less blood flow to the penis, lower hormone levels (especially testosterone), and more common health problems. Some 40% of men aged 40 and up have some kind of ED, according to the Massachusetts Male Aging Study. This number goes up with age.

It's important to remember that ED is not a normal part of getting older, even though older guys are more likely to have it themselves. There are treatments that can help guys of any age with ED (erectile dysfunction) keep their sexual relationships healthy.
