The length of an erection changes from person to person and is affected by age, health, and amount of excitement. Most of the time, an erection can last anywhere from a few minutes to thirty minutes. But different men may have erections that last longer or shorter amounts of time. If you have erections that last longer than four hours and aren't caused by being sexually aroused, you should see a doctor because it could be a sign of a condition called priapism.
